Ladies and Gentlemen,
Haematology and transfusion medicine are among the most rapidly developing fields of clinical and basic research. It is a 'testing ground' for new forms of therapy, where innovations are directly translated into improved patient outcome. Each year brings a wide range of opportunities to test and implement modern drugs, technologies or therapeutic strategies. Each year brings new experiences and new achievements, with significant contribution from Polish haematologists and transfusion therapists. Such high dynamics create the need for regular meetings that allow to fulfil scientific and educational needs, in the form of lectures and presentations of original reports, but also direct discussions and exchange of experiences.
Considering the above mentioned needs, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in the 31st Congress of the Polish Society of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, which will be held at the International Congress Centre in Katowice on 14th-16th September 2023. The thematic scope of the Congress includes basic science, diagnosis and treatment of malignant and non-malignant blood diseases, hemostasis disorders and issues related to transfusion medicine. Greatest achievements of Polish hematooncology in the 21st century, as well as status of ongoing academic clinical trials initiated by Polish researchers will be presented during the Presidential Symposium. We anticipate the participation of international lecturers and presentations of current standards of treatment applied to specific disease entities. Special sessions will be dedicated to modern forms of cellular and humoral immunotherapy, as well as new drugs targeting intracellular molecular pathways. We hope that participation in the Congress will both provide valuable information useful in daily clinical practice and inspiration for new scientific projects. We believe it will also create an opportunity to establish direct relationships that will facilitate the completion of these projects in the future.
The Congress of our Society shall also be an excellent occasion to create new and consolidate old friendships, which is my sincere wish for you and for myself.
See you in Katowice!
Prof. Sebastian Giebel, MD PhD
Chair of the Scientific Committee
